Everytime the fair comes around, I don’t know if I’m more eager to eat the food or ride the rides. You simply cannot go to the fair without trying something, but as a picky eater I tend to only eat the simple foods. This year I decided to try some riskier things, so here’s me rating everything I tried….
Fried Oreos: ⅗
I’ll admit I was very skeptical of these despite all the praise they recieve. And I was pleasantly surprised — they weren’t horrible! They taste a lot like a funnel cake with chocolate on top. It was pretty good but nothing mind blowing. 3 out of 5 stars.
Chicken Pita: ⅖
I have to admit that I did ask them to take off tomatoes and onions because I cannot stand those foods. No worries, though; taking those things off wouldn’t change the taste of the whole thing. As a whole it was pretty dry. The chicken just lacked flavor but the pita was really good. I’ll still give it a 2 out of 5 stars.
Philly Cheese Steak: ⅘
Not only did this look good but it tasted good too. The cheese melted perfectly and the bread that it was on was literally perfect. The steak was seasoned well and overall it was just a top tier philly cheese steak, I would definitely recommend it. 4 out of 5 stars.
Lemonade: ⅘
I know this is a drink, but you cannot go to the fair and not get a lemonade. Fair lemonade is often hyped up and with good reason. It’s made with fresh lemons and they actually put enough sugar in it for me. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
Cotton Candy: 5/5
Cotton candy is a food that you would think would be good everywhere. However, this is rarely the case, and many places have horrible cotton candy that tastes like pure food coloring. The fair did not disappoint, though; their cotton candy was so good as it always is. 5 out of 5 stars.
Corn in a cup: ⅘
Although I originally went to the churro for just that, I saw this corn on the menu and I knew I had to get it. It’s corn in a cup with Taki dust, cheese, and mayo on top. As a picky eater of course I got it without mayo, but it didn’t take away any of the flavor. I was so glad I got it instead of a plain churro as it was so good! 4 out of 5 stars.
Cotton Candy Ice Cream: 5/5
Fair ice cream stands always have the largest pictures of this perfect looking ice cream so of course I had to get one and put it to the test. It looked just as good as the picture did! The cotton candy taste actually came through so well. It was honestly some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. 5 out of 5 stars.
