Are you looking for something new and fun to do over your spring break? Here is a list of ten local and affordable activities that will be sure to entertain and amaze!

  1. Downtown Cary Park

Offering various dining options, picnic tables, a dog park, playground slides, games, and much more, this recent addition to Cary has something for everyone to explore at its location on Academy Street. Freshman Calvin Provost commented, “I thought it was really cool; it was super busy. My favorite part was the sky bridge; the lights and architecture were great.”

  1. Color Me Mine

This unique painting studio allows you to design your own ceramics using paint! This chain has a location in Waverly Place that includes creative and relaxing activities that are perfect for Spring Break since it is available for walk-ins, workshops, and even parties.

  1. Fred G. Bond Metro Park

The possibilities are endless with activities at this beloved aspect of the Cary community located at 801 High House Road in Cary, NC. This large park offers a plethora of engaging activities, such as camps, classes, and other programs, for people of all ages. Additionally, the park also features walking trails, the Lazy Daze Playground, an amphitheater, athletic fields, picnic areas, and more amenities that are accessible to all.

  1. Frankie’s Fun Park

Located in Raleigh, this amusement center has an abundance of activities to keep you busy during Spring Break. It includes laser tag, go-karts, bumper boats, batting cages, mini-golf, flight simulators, arcade games, a chill lounge, and even a cafe. “I love the vibe of the mini-golf courses. The arcade is cool too,” commented freshman Keira Nelson after visiting the park.

  1. Go Ape Zip-Line and Adventure Park

This adventure-activity chain has a venue located in Raleigh where visitors are able to journey through the forest canopy via a treetop ropes course or zipline! This exhilarating experience will not only give you a chance to appreciate nature but will also allow you to get some good exercise as you maneuver challenging obstacles.

  1. Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve 

Located in Cary, the nature preserve is designated as such in order to protect the special ecosystem present within its borders. This nature preserve not only welcomes dogs but also features hiking trails and picnic tables.

  1. Jordan Lake

The famous reservoir in New Hope Valley is an excellent spot for kayaking, fishing, swimming, boating, and more! The Jordan Lake State Recreation Area offers these activities as well as hiking, picnicking, and even camping. Located west of Cary and south of Durham in Chatham County, this centrally positioned lake is an amazing spot to enjoy the outdoors with great facilities and amenities.

  1. Pullen Park

Opened in 1887 as the first public park in North Carolina, this staple of the Cary community features an incredible playground and a carousel! Located in Raleigh, this park is also a marvelous place to exercise since it offers a variety of sports, the ability to rent a pedal boat, and even swimming. Lastly, performed plays and art classes are also available, as well as delicious food options, including a barbecue grill. “The park is beautiful, and there are so many fun things to do!” remarked ninth grader Daniella Onubogu.
