When the leaves turn orange and scarves become appropriate outside attire, there is nothing better than lighting a pumpkin spice candle, warming up a cup of cider, and cuddling underneath a knit blanket to watch a comforting fall movie. The Page asked a few Cary High students what their favorite fall films were, and the following are a few of their favorites.

Senior Luci Auguston eagerly declared that her favorite fall film is When Harry Met Sally. First, she said that “it has the perfect setting surrounded by fall weather.” She continued by saying that “the film has great costume design; I love the sweaters and the brown colors. And the casting is great.” As for the movie itself, Luci said that “it is super wholesome and my comfort movie.” She concluded the interview by mentioning that “the ending is set during New Years, which puts me in the holiday spirit… so it’s the perfect movie to watch in November.”

When The Page asked Senior Marwan Arafa what his favorite fall film was, he took a moment to consider. Eventually, he revealed that his fall film of choice is Dead Poets Society, stating that “it is one of my favorite films that is set in fall.” He then elaborated, saying that “it is a film that really touches any viewer, truly. The whole idea of the film is that art is the reason why people live, which is something that speaks to me personally.”

When asked, Senior Gracelyn Gay confidently proclaimed that Seven, a 1995 thriller, is her favorite fall film. She revealed that “it’s constantly exciting, and you’re on your toes the entire time.” She then continued by saying, “I really like how the plot line continues to twist, and you never know what’s going to happen.” But she admits that “it isn’t your normal comforting fall film; it’s more exciting, and you keep wanting more and more as you continue watching.”

While The Page inquired about students’ favorite fall films, Senior Maddie Goodman wanted to include her favorite fall show. She explained to The Page that “every fall, I feel very inclined to watch Gilmore Girls because it always reminds me of that small-town vibe, and Cary still kind of has that, so I resonate with it.” She then adds that “Gilmore Girls episodes always seem to be in the fall or holiday season, which is perfect for when the leaves change and you feel really cozy.”
